East Lancashire Learning Group was founded on a simple yet powerful belief: that education transforms lives, communities and economies.
Our journey began with a vision to bring together like-minded colleges that shared a deep commitment to delivering excellence and widening opportunity. Through collaboration and a shared purpose, we have grown into a strong, values driven group rooted in the heart of East Lancashire, proudly serving thousands of learners across diverse towns and communities.
Nelson and Colne College has been the cornerstone of our Group since the beginning, consistently recognised for its outstanding quality and learner outcomes. In 2016 Lancashire Adult Learning became part of the Group, expanding our reach to adult learners across the county and deepening our impact on lifelong learning and community engagement. Today, Lancashire Adult Learning is recognised as the number one provider of adult learning in the country, a reflection of its outstanding reach, innovation and life-changing outcomes for learners. Accrington and Rossendale College joined the Group in 2018, bringing a strong technical and vocational offer that complements and strengthens our shared mission.
Together, these three institutions form the East Lancashire Learning Group, a partnership that honours the distinct strengths of each college while working collectively to raise aspirations, drive standards and deliver real opportunity at every stage of life.
Across the Group, we are proud to have been rated Outstanding by Ofsted for 20 consecutive years — a distinction held by no other college in the country. This long-standing recognition is a testament to our unwavering commitment to excellence, inclusion and the success of every learner.
Over the years, we have evolved to meet the changing needs of learners, employers and the regional economy, while staying true to our founding principles: putting students first, delivering inclusive, high quality education and training, and supporting our communities to thrive.
